About Us

Cerulean is an award-winning small independent consultancy largely run by our managing director, compliance expert, author, and speaker John Avellanet.

Our goal is to help companies increase the effectiveness of their regulatory compliance, quality management systems, records management, and new medicine development programs while boosting their business flexibility and bottom line - in essence, to show clients how to turn compliance into a competitive advantage.

Our company name comes from the color "cerulean" (suh • roo • lee • uhn) blue - from the Latin caelum or caeruleaum = sky or heavens.  Cerulean is often used in poetry as "...the color of an October sky...."

Our logo is a stylized version of the medieval Japanese symbol known as the "spiral of potential energy."

We are headquartered in Williamsburg, Virginia near the College of William & Mary.
